In our letter dated January 18, 2023, we stated that current airworthiness standards require manufacturers to develop an Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) that provides information considered necessary for safely operating the airplane. We also indicated we would work with other civil aviation authorities to review guidance and criteria for information that should be available to flightcrews. The FAA will require part 25 transport category TC applicants to provide an AFM that contains all the information required by 14 CFR part 25, subpart G, Airworthiness Standards: Transport Category Airplanes, Operating Limitations and Information, for its current TC programs and all major type certification projects thereafter. The FAA has coordinated with several international regulatory authorities to revise and improve the guidance contained in AC 25.1581-1, Airplane Flight Manual, which offers a method of compliance for part 25, subpart G. The revised AC is currently under FAA technical review, and we anticipate publication in calendar year 2025.
