After careful review of the applicable FAA Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR), the FAA has determined the need to amend certain rules. The System Safety Assessment (SSA) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) (87 FR 75424) and supporting draft guidance material were published on December 8, 2022. As published in the 2023 Fall Unified Agenda, we anticipate publishing the final rule by May 2024This proposed rule aims to improve aviation safety by making the SSA certification requirements more comprehensive and consistent. It would limit the gap between using different regulatory requirements for different systems on the same aircraft. In addition, it proposes a revision to Advisory Circular (AC) 25.1309-1A, System Design and Analysis, which will provide consistency of the application of SSA across the various systems on the aircraft
