The FAA continues to review airworthiness standards and guidance related to equipment and systems installations. The FAA strengthened its oversight of the Boeing system safety processes with the help of the authorized Organizational Designation Authorization in the areas of Airplane Functional Hazard Assessment completeness, development assurance reviews for system requirements validation and verification, and human factors assumptions in the airplane/system functional hazard assessments. For example, the FAA has been reviewing all legacy and new SSA compliance showings to verify the Human Factors assumptions are correctly stated and validated, ensuring compliance with the Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act, section 106 mandates. The validation task ensures that appropriate completeness/correctness check in the SSA are completed for substantiation of requirements. Additionally, the FAA continues reviewing certification processes and assumptions relating to flightcrew behavior with other aircraft certification authorities.
